One Village, One Dam kills another child in Bongo

A pupil of Ayopia Basic School in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region is reported to have drowned in a dam constructed under the government’s flagship programme, One Village, One Dam.

This brings the total number of deaths recorded since the start of the project in the district to four.

Speaking to the issue on Daybreak Upper on A1 Radio Bolgatanga, the Youth Organizer of NDC in Bongo, Alfred Awuni described it as unfortunate and accused the government of not ensuring adequate precautionary measures at the dam sites.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Peter Ayinbisa in response to the claims said; in as much as the situation is unfortunate, the situation should not be politicized.
