Instance justice: Teenager lynched for stealing a ram


A teenager of about sixteen years old was on Friday November 25, 2016 lynched at Yorogo, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region for allegedly stealing a ram.

Information available to TopNews Ghana indicates the deceased hailed from Soe, also a suburb of Bolgatanga.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday after some commuters of the Yorogo-Dua road on route to the market spotted the victim and his alleged accomplice drop a ram under a bridge and returned later to pick it up.

In an attempt to carry the ram, residents blew alarm upon which one of the suspects managed to escape with a motorbike. Luck however eluded the deceased thus his death.

Eyewitnesses said though he took to his heels after residents raised an alarm, his leg could not carry him far. He was given a hot chase, captured and beaten till he was unconscious and abandoned.

He died moments later and his body was taken and deposited at the morgue by police for an autopsy to be conducted.

Snatching of motorbikes and stealing have become rampant on that road and residents have vowed to unleash instant justice on any suspected thief in that vicinity.
