Hundreds of customers of the defunct DKM Diamond Microfinance Ltd on Wednesday December 7, suffered a great deal of indecision when the official liquidator of the company posted the list of clients who are due for payment.
Upon news broke that the liquidator had displayed the list, scores of customers who were in queues at the various polling stations and constituencies across the Upper East Region are abandoned the queues and hurried to cross check if their names were included on the list.
Within a matter of hours, more customers invaded the open area of DKM as the information about the list spread like wild fire. It ended up denying some voters the opportunity to vote or disorganizidisorganizing their day.
Most clients who spoke to TopNews Ghana said they preferred to go for their investments than to risk losing them all in the name of voting.
The agitation emanated from conflicting dates of payment as some customers claimed the liquidator was supposed to pay them on December 7 and 8, 2016 while others contended they had received information from the Ghana Commercial Bank that clients and investors in the Upper East Region would be paid from 12-15th December, 2016.
Some frustrated customers said they saw the move as a deliberate attempt to sway their attention from the election in the Bolgatanga Central constituency and the Upper East Region at large.
Meanwhile, the election is generally peaceful across the region except our earlier report on an attack on a bus conveying electoral materials by some supporters of the opposition NPP in the Chiana-Paga constituency.
