Bolgatanga: DKM Customers Throng GCB Bank for Payment

Some customers of the defunct DKM Diamond Microfinance Company Ltd Monday morning thronged the premises of the GCB Bank branch in Bolgatanga to receive their capital investments from the official liquidator.

Some of the customers who interacted with TopNews Ghana said they were at the bank as early as 4:00am to join the long queues. They appeared visibly satisfied with the fact that their total capital investments are being paid. This is an improvement over previous payments where customers were paid as low as Gh¢ 10.00.

Two customers confirmed they have received their capital investments without interests. “I invested Gh¢ 2,000 and today, they have paid me back the same amount. Though I’m happy I have finally gotten my money, I can ever trust any microfinance company. In fact, I will never invest in any of them.”  A customer poured out his feelings.

With barely six days to Christmas, some say their festive season will be worth-celebrating. However, a male customer who declined to give his name vowed never to do business with any microfinance company. He further urged the general public not risk investing with microfinance companies but rather, they should save their hard earned money with the traditional banks even if they will not make profit.
