67 Parliamentary Candidates File in Upper East Region

A total of 67 parliamentary candidates in the Upper East Region have submitted their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission to contest in the upcoming parliamentary election, the EC has disclosed.
The number is made up of 61 males and 6 females. Among the 67 is a visually impaired candidate from the Chiana-Paga constituency. Meanwhile, 3 male candidates could however not submit their nomination forms because they failed to raise the Ghc 10,000 filing fees as set by the commission.

James Yeboah-Arthur, the Upper East Regional Director of the EC disclosed this during a capacity building programme for media practitioners in reporting on the presidential and parliamentary elections in Bolgatanga.

According to him, the nomination forms of the candidates have since been submitted to the head office of the EC in Accra pending approval or otherwise of the legibility of the individual candidates.
He cautioned the media not to be judgmental in their reportage but rather, serve as the lead point of education for the electorate and Ghanaians in general.
There are 15 constituencies in the region. Out of this number, the incumbent NDC holds 13, PNC 1 and the NPP 1.
